Leaders maintain their enthusiasm

“You are responsible for the energy you bring into the room.”- Oprah Winfrey

A leader’s enthusiasm is contagious; it kickstarts engagement. An enthusiastic leader gives their peers the impetus to act with energy and vigour towards stated goals. Conversely, a lacklustre approach diminishes a team’s potential, causes them to act hesitantly and makes them more likely to surrender at the first sign of a challenge.

Enthusiasm comes from the Greek word éntheos, which means “having God within”. Leaders with this capacity have energy and zest for life, no matter what it brings. They are warm, emotionally buoyant and fun-loving. They have a magnetism that draws everyone in.

As a leader, do you create an aftermath or an afterglow when you leave a room? Leaders always create an emotional wake wherever they go.
