Ormiston College

“I was at your presentation for Grade 9 at Ormiston College today. I found what you said to be very inspiring, and I related and connected to it a lot, here is why; I was never overly talented in music, but I nearly gave up. But as you said in your speech today, sometimes we give up things we shouldn’t, and that it’s the person who puts in the effort who comes out on top, not the talented ones. So, your message really moved me today because it made me think about how close I came to losing the one thing in life I now truly care about, and how because I put in the effort, I came back from that dark place (with the help of a few inspiring friends). It’s still hard for me, learning music. And it will always be hard, because there will always be more to learn, but I can always be better than the day I was before. So, I made a vision board of all the great things I want to achieve in life as a musician, and of all the places I want to travel to, to share my music with the world. I put it next to where I practice daily so when I get frustrated, or angry, or sad about not being able to do something, I remember why I do what I do and see all the things in life I can achieve if I just keep going – and to remember how far I’ve come.”
